amCharts 4: Charts Licensing

If you need to discuss your licensing requirements for amCharts 4: Charts, please contact our amCharts licensing specialists.

We can supply any amCharts 4: Charts license including Single Website Licenses, Single App or SaaS Website Licenses, OEM Licenses, Extended OEM Licenses, and amPlus Maintenance Subscriptions and Renewals.

Single website license
If you have a public website (no signup is necessary), or you’re a web developer who is developing a website for a client and want to add charting or mapping capabilities to it, Single website license will do. It covers sub-domains, mirror or translation websites, development and testing servers.

SaaS / Application license
This dual license type is good for either one SaaS (Software as a Service) website OR a re-distributable software product.

Some examples of SaaS websites: online accounting service (i.e. FreshBooks), CRM service (i.e. SalesForce), webmail service (i.e. GMail), online stock trading platform, etc.

Examples of re-distributable software applications: a CMS system, a desktop application, a mobile app. Please note that a single SaaS / Application license covers application clones across all platforms. So if you have the same mobile application available for, say, iOS, Android and Windows Phone, you just need one license.

This license type does not limit physical servers, used to run it.

OEM license
The ultimate one. In addition to allowing you to freely use the library in any number of websites and applications that are owned or developed by you, it is also the only type that includes full source code for the product it was purchased for, thus allowing you to modify the core functionality.

Extended OEM license
Think of it as a less restrictive OEM license. Besides what OEM license does it also allows three additional things:

  • Use amCharts in tools that produce other software, such as compilers and frameworks.
  • Use by subsidiaries of the licensee, e.g. company HQ purchases the license, and all local subsidiaries can use amCharts.
  • Use in software produced for 3rd parties as an OEM deal, e.g. you produce a software for someone else to sell as their own.

License Agreements

FAQs

Is the license permanent (perpetual) or temporal (time-limited)?

All amCharts 4: Charts licenses are perpetual for the current major version, including free updates to any minor versions. Single App or SaaS Website Licenses, OEM Licenses, and Extended OEM Licenses include a 12 month amPlus subscription, which also provides Priority Support and access to any new major versions released during your subscription period.

What is the difference between the different license types?

The Free License includes the same functionality as the paid licenses, but will include an amCharts watermark on each chart.

The Single Website License is suitable if you have a public website (which does not require registration), or if you are developing a website for a client and want to add charting capabilities to it. It covers sub-domains, mirror or translation websites, development and testing servers.

The Single App or Sass Website License, is suitable for either one SaaS website (e.g. an online accounting service, CRM, etc.) OR a re-distributable software product (e.g. a CMS, desktop application, or mobile app).

The OEM License allows you to freely use the library in any number of websites and applications that are owned or developed by you, and includes full source code for the product it was purchased for, thus allowing you to modify the core functionality.

The Extended OEM License extends the OEM License terms with the following:

  • Use amCharts in tools that produce other software, such as compilers and frameworks.
  • Use by subsidiaries of the licensee, e.g. company HQ purchases the license, and all local subsidiaries can use amCharts.
  • Use in software produced for 3rd parties as an OEM deal, e.g. you produce a software for someone else to sell as their own.
Can I upgrade my license?

Yes. You can upgrade by paying the difference between the two license types.

Can I purchase add-ons?

Yes - amCharts 4: Maps and amCharts 4: Timeline add-ons are available. These require that you already own or are purchasing an amCharts 4: Charts license.

What type of support do I get?

Free Licenses and Single Website Licenses do not include support, but the amPlus subscription (which includes 12 months unlimited Priority Support and updates to major versions) is available as an option.

The Single App or SaaS Website License, OEM License, and Extended OEM License include a 12 month amPlus subscription.

What happens after my amPlus subscription period ends?

You can choose to purchase an amPlus Subscription Renewal for a further 12 months, or continue to use the version of the product you are entitled to (the last version released before your subscription ends) without support.

Can I buy an old product version?

amCharts does not offer old versions for sale directly. However, purchasing a new amCharts 4 license entitles you to download and use amCharts 3 for no additional fee.

Can a license be transferred from one developer to another?

amCharts 4: Charts is licensed per Web site or application, rather than per developer, so there is no need to transfer a license between developers within the same organization.
