Named User (Workstation) License
A Named User (Workstation) license is locked to one machine ("node-lock") or one person ("named user"). A node-locked Named User (Workstation) license can be installed on only one machine and cannot be used concurrently. A Named User (Workstation) license is registered to an individual and the named user is the only person permitted to use the product. The Named User (Workstation) licensing options work best for power-users who need a copy of the software available on their workstation at all times. Named User (Workstation) licensees are required to create an Embarcadero Developer Network account in order to register their product. A Named User (Workstation) license does not require installation of a license server.

Note: A Named User (Workstation) License is ONLY valid in the country of purchase or country as specified on the "ordering documentation" (except within the European Union (EU) where, by law, any license purchased within the EU can be moved within any country within the EU). If you ship it to another country the license is no longer valid and will have to be repurchased for the required country.

Network Named User License
Network Named User is similar to Named User (Workstation) licensing in that a license is designated to an individual. Licenses are managed over a network using AppWave. An administrator installs AppWave a central location on your network where users are authorized to operate the product. The Network Named User is guaranteed access to that license at all times or until the Administrator revokes access.
This option has many advantages including centralized administration, fast and easy provisioning and de-provisioning of software assets, and asset management features including usage reports.

Concurrent License
Concurrent licenses are managed through AppWave. It provides users with the flexibility of using any Embarcadero product, but will only acquire a license when the application is open. This license option tracks the number of simultaneous users. If the number of simultaneous users exceeds the number of purchased licenses, anyone who subsequently tries to start the software is denied access.
Concurrent licenses are only valid for the global region in which they are sold. Global contracts can be purchased on a contractual basis. Please contact your sales representative for more information.

Updates and additional software for RAD Studio users are available on the registered users download page at http://cc.embarcadero.com/reg/rad_studio. More major new feature upgrades are available only to users with current maintenance agreements. Notifications for those upgrades are delivered via email and the upgrades can be downloaded via the Maintenance Portal web site by following the instructions in the email.

Old Versions

With RAD Studio, you also get access to licenses for older versions. They are considered part of your license and are tied to your user account. They cannot be given away or sold.

Kai

• A Kai license is not perpetual, it is a timed subscription license. At the end of the subscription period you must renew your subscription license to continue using the software.
• Kai is an add-on and requires an active license for RAD Studio, Delphi, or C++Builder to operate. Your Kai subscription is tied to the support and maintenance dates of your RAD Studio, Delphi, or C++Builder license. If your base product support or maintenance expires, Kai will no longer function. You would need to renew your base product support before Kai can be used again.
