ImageGear Professional v18.1 DLL for Windows includes numerous customer enhancement requests and improvements. In addition, ImageGear Professional v18.1 introduces support for Linux platforms. Please refer to ImageGear Professional v18.1 for Unix documentation for more details.

ImageGear Professional v18 DLL for Windows
This section describes the new features added in ImageGear Professional v18 DLL for Windows. In addition, each ImageGear release includes numerous customer enhancement requests and improvements:

Large Image Support
Enhanced support for loading, saving, displaying, and processing gigabyte-sized images. ImageGear can now process gigabyte-sized images without overloading system resources.

  • In the 32-bit version, the maximum image size is limited to 2 GB.
  • In the 64-bit version, the maximum image size is only limited by the available disk space, and can exceed the size of the installed RAM and paging file.

Recognition Features

  • Added OCR support to the 64-bit DLL toolkit.
  • Improved OCR support in the 32-bit DLL toolkit.

Unicode Support

  • Added support for loading and saving image files that use Unicode symbols in file names.
  • Added support for updating metadata in TIFF, JPEG, JPEG 2000, and JPX image files that use Unicode symbols in file names.
  • Added support for loading, displaying, and saving Unicode text strings in vector image files for SVG, DWG, DXF, and DWF formats.

Raster Image Enhancements

  • Added read/write support for UUID and XMP metadata in JPEG 2000 and JPX images.
  • Added support for saving ICC profiles to Adobe PSD and Adobe PSB file formats.

Vector Improvements

  • For SVG vector format, added support for loading, displaying, and saving text strings that use fonts embedded in SVG files.
  • Provided comprehensive Vector documentation.

XPS Improvements
Improved the XPS file format support for better speed and better integration with ImageGear Core.

PDF Improvements
Updated PDF and PS libraries to support new PDF and PS files.

Annotation Enhancements
Improved Annotation Burn In operation on images that contain Alpha channels for both the legacy (ART) and new (ArtX) annotation APIs.

New Samples
Added Visual Studio 2010 projects to sample applications.
