OCR Xpress for Linux is a solution for adding optical character recognition (OCR) and text extraction to your Linux applications. This Linux OCR SDK provides a quick and easy way to extract text from black-and-white or color images, and convert it into searchable PDFs or text. Numerous languages are supported.

Updates in v3.2

  • Submit rotated pages - Users can now submit pages in any rotation (0, 90, 180, 270 degrees) and still get correct results.
  • Detect orientation - Reads the characters in the detected orientation, but leaves provided coordinates of characters on the original image. The PDF output will be of the original image (still rotated).
  • Detect and adjust orientation - If an image is rotated 90 degrees clockwise when submitted, OCR Xpress will first rotate the image 90 degrees counterclockwise, then perform OCR and produce the output based on the corrected image.
  • Assume the image is correctly oriented and try to read the text with an upright orientation - Rotated text will fail to read. Correctly oriented pages will read slightly faster when using this mode.
