This is a reporting tool for the true geek. I absolutely love it! The price is great too. Out of the box, it does way less than Crystal Reports - and that's a good thing. Crystal (even version XI) is a buggy piece of junk that never works right. XtraReports, on the other hand, has minimal functionality but the class architecture is COMPLETELY open. If XtraReports can't do it, just subscribe to an even or inherit a class. You can make this tool do almost ANYTHING. An hour after I downloaded the trial, I was displaying custom GDI+ maps based on proprietary coordinate data contained in a User Defined Type SQL Server 2005 (beta) column. Even your reports are just like standard Windows forms ... no messy binaries with some ugly compatibility layer. The designer is a little buggy by times so occasionally you have to close and reopen the designer. I can live with that after having Crystal Reports completely crash my dev environment dozens of times, loosing valuable information. Check out Crystal Reports or Active Reports if you want something "out of the box" but if you want complete control and unlimited expansion, this tool is for you. 5 stars, I love it and can't wait for version 2.
