Updates in 2011 Vol 3

Essential Grid

  • Filter Bar - The filter bar is displayed at the top of a grid, below the header row. This is very user friendly compared to the existing filtering feature. The filter bar can even be used in applications at run time.
  • PDF and Word Exporting - This feature allows users to export grouped and nested tables, grids with multi-row records, summary rows, grid headers and footers, and applied grid styles. Users can choose what grid content to export—visible, all, or custom.
  • Bulk and Excel-like Editing - Users can edit a large amount of data simultaneously and save it to the server instantly, instead of waiting for the server to save the edited data before being able to make another edit.

Essential Tools

  • Rotator Control - The Rotator control supports the following: images, text, and templates, horizontal, vertical, image viewer, circular, auto scroll, and slideshow modes, auto scrolling, button, button hover, and mouse wheel navigation types, data source and load-on-demand loading types, item highlight and resize on mouse hover, customizable animation and background, resize window and border for each item.
  • FileUpload Control - The FileUpload control makes uploading files easy for users, as multiple files can be uploaded at the same time.
  • Form Elements in a Rich-Text Editor - Give your end users the ability to insert form elements in a rich-text editor control that provides the control with greater interactivity.
  • Hyperlinks in a Rich-Text Editor - To apply hyperlinks to text in a rich-text editor, previously you had to enter the URL manually. Now, however, you can apply hyperlinks using a hyperlink manager, which contains properties such as anchor name, URL, and anchor target. Using this method, you can choose how you want to link URLs, and if they should open in a new window or in the same frame.
  • Clean up HTML - The RichTextEditor control allows you to remove unneeded tags from HTML code. Usually, when you cut and paste text from a Word document to a rich-text editor, unnecessary HTML tags will be generated in the editor. This feature cleans up the code, leaving only the relevant tags.

Essential Chart

  • Drill Down Support - When a click event occurs in a chart, the drill down support will be implemented by either replacing the current chart with another chart that features more detailed information, or reinitializing the current chart with new drill down information.
  • Axis Crossing - This feature can be used to customize the location of primary axes from their default location in the event that users want to add a number of negative and positive points to a chart.
  • Client-Side Mouse Events - Users can get needed chart region information using this feature. Thereby, users can customize chart details and also easily interact with a chart on the client side. The client-side mouse events that are supported are MouseDown, MouseUp, MouseMove, MouseClick, and MouseDoubleClick.

Essential Diagram

  • Save and Load a Diagram - All of a diagram’s properties can be persisted in .xml format. This allows users to continue working on a particular diagram by reloading its .xml document.

Essential Gantt for WPF

Essential Grid for WPF

  • Spreadsheet Control - The Spreadsheet control allows you to view and edit Excel files. It consists of three other controls: the Ribbon control, which provides commands above the grid; the Tab control, which allows you to select different sheets; and the Grid control, where rows and columns are contained.
  • Rich-Text-Box Cells - Rich-text-box cells support flow-document loading with all formatting intact. In these cell types, columns with images and multiple formats are supported, and cell values are provided with the flow document.
  • Exporting Styles from Rich Text Cells -Content contained in a grid’s rich-text-box cell can be exported with all formatting intact. This cell type also supports printing, copying, and pasting.

  • Docking Manager Scrollable Views - The docking manger allows you to scroll through items that have been automatically hidden because they do not fit into a panel. This is similar to the scrolling functionality found in Excel. The scroll button appears only when the number of items exceeds the panel size.

Essential Chart for WPF

  • Panels for Chart Legends - With panel support for legends, you can customize the layout of legend labels to make the best use of screen space. For example, when a legend with a large number of labels is positioned to the left or right of a chart, the legend items can be arranged so they do not overlap the chart area.

Like other line connectors, the arc line connector is placed with correct positioning.
