SQL Inventory Manager 关于

发现、跟踪和管理您的 SQL Server 环境。

SQL Elements provides fundamental information on your SQL Servers to help you keep track of and manage your database environment without having to be an expert in SQL Server. It gives a broad enterprise-wide view of all your SQL Servers through automated discovery as well as simple, actionable information about the state of the environment. View core information such as how many databases exist, whether they are being backed up, plus basic availability monitoring and notification so you can take action as needed. SQL Inventory Manager manages database inventory and assets for SQL Server in physical, virtual, and cloud environments - including managed cloud databases.

SQL Elements Features:

View Inventory
SQL Elements automatically discovers the inventory of SQL Servers across the environment once installed. The Dashboard view provides high-level visibility of server inventory to better understand which servers are improperly managed and what actions might need to be taken. Filter down on individual servers to get insights on what these servers are being used for and what resources are being utilized. Plus, create tags to organize SQL Servers by owner, location or other categories to suit different needs.

The Instance view displays detail information on the instance such as SQL Server version, memory, number of databases, data size or log size. You can also view configuration settings of the hosted server hardware such as OS version, hard disk size or if the server is virtual. Plus, view the other instances hosted on that server to see how these instances might be competing for memory and resources.

Continuous Server Discovery
SQL Elements performs routine daily scans across the network to find newly added servers and databases. Get complete visibility of the environment landscape, including those servers lurking that you may not have known existed. As soon as these servers are discovered, they are immediately captured to the Inventory View with default options so you can see what actions might be needed to bring them up to maintenance. You can also set a default to automatically register newly added instances to start monitoring immediately as servers are discovered.

Availability Alerting
Subscribe to simple email alerts so you know about problems before your users do. Receive alerts for indicators such as when instances or databases become unresponsive (e.g. server up/down), database has never been backed up or get early warning before you run out of drive space. These items will be identified for review and further drill down.

Health Checks & Action Items
SQL Elements performs daily health checks of the server environment to gauge performance and adherence to best practices and displays its findings in a simple, actionable list format. View recommendations for improvement from SQL Server experts in easy to understand language. Plus, take advantage of built-in context sensitive tips throughout the product to assist in interpreting the information exposed. Explanations provided are free of "jargon" so you don't have to be an expert to interpret what to do next to speed up server management tasks.

Lightweight Architecture
Agent-less, low impact design offers download, install and use in under 5 minutes. Discover servers automatically with no other modules needed or installation of anything on monitored servers. Plus no need for professional services in order to get up and running and use.

SQL Elements is a stand-alone web application with no need for IIS. Its intuitive web-based UI only needs a simple sign on so you can login and use remotely from anywhere. Plus it is designed to scale up as you grow, capable of supporting the entire environment of servers including DEV, PROD, QA and SQL Express instances. Everything is discovered and can be managed as inventory.

Views & Topology
SQL Elements will automatically discover the inventory of SQL Servers across the environment. The Dashboard view provides high-level visibility of the inventory to better understand which servers are improperly managed and what actions might be needed.
Filter on individual servers for insights on what these servers are being used for and what resources are being utilized. Some examples of information captured include:

  • Top databases by growth
  • Databases with the most activity (transactions)
  • Number of instances owned by a particular group or department
  • Total number of databases by data size or log size
  • Amount of space utilized by development vs. production

The Instance view displays detailed information on the instance, such as SQL Server version, memory, number of databases, data size or log size. View configuration settings of the hosted server hardware, such as OS version, hard disk size or if the server is virtual. View the other instances hosted on that server to see how these instances might be competing for memory and resources.

Tags & Annotation
Once server inventory is discovered, create tags to organize SQL Servers by owner, location, function or other categories to suit different needs. A tag cloud displays on the Dashboard view that groups the tags created to quickly visualize the size of those server groups comparatively by prominence or importance. Drill down into any given tag for additional detail on the most common groups in your environment. Use the Explorer view to see graphical views of the different server groups from the tags created. Compare, filter and navigate across different server groups to better understand your whole environment. Slice and dice the filters to get a better sense of the inventory you have, who owns the servers, where they reside, etc. Some examples of information to see from these filters include:

  • Locations with the largest number of servers
  • Servers with the most business critical databases
  • Server groups with the most activity in transactions

You can also see a list of the instances contained in a tagged group to drill-down to view details such as configuration settings, number of databases or OS versions to better manage the SQL Server environment.

Continuous Server Discovery
SQL Elements automatically performs daily scans across the network to find newly added servers and databases. Get complete visibility of the environment landscape, including servers previously unknown or undetected. As soon as these servers are discovered, they are immediately captured to the Inventory View with default options so you can see what actions might be needed to bring them up to maintenance. You can also set a default to automatically register newly added instances to start monitoring immediately as servers are discovered.

Alerting
Alert notifications are generated automatically in-product and can be sent via email covering key server indicators as needed. Indicator notifications include:

Availability

  • SQL Server instance down
  • SQL Server instance slow to respond
  • Database down

Storage Capacity

  • Drive at risk of becoming full
  • Database at risk of becoming full

Health Checks & Action Items
View daily health checks of the server environment to gauge performance and adherence to best practices. If a SQL Server is operating with poor configuration practices, see a list of detailed results with actionable recommendations for improvement from SQL Server experts in easy to understand language. Some examples of poor configurations or practices might include:

  • Databases not being backed up
  • Integrity checks not being run regularly
  • Database autoshrink enabled
  • Insecure xp_cmdshell functionality enabled

If SQL Elements finds anything ill-configured, actionable responses will be offered to remedy the problem areas.
