Application Virtualization Explorer v5.8.0

Now lists Windows Server 2016 in package deployment options.
October 8, 2018
New Version

Features

  • AVE now fully supports and recognizes App-V packages created with Windows 1809 ADK.
While the APPV package format or supported features has not been updated, 1809 release of ADK ships with updated MSI wrapper package for App-V packages.
  • Registry file import to virtual registry now supports key removal format (for example, [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Foo]) which will mark the specified removed registry key as deleted in the virtual registry.
  • It is now possible to change the icon for individual application shortcuts, instead of changing the icon only on the virtual application level.
  • Added Windows Server 2016 into list of operating systems in package deployment options, note however that since the Server 2016 does not have its own entry in the AppXManifest file but shares the same value with Windows 10 (x64), selecting or deselecting this operating system will change the 64-bit Windows 10 publishing value accordingly.

Fixes

  • Fixed - Registry file import would sometimes create keys in incorrect paths depending on what virtual registry node the import function was initiated.
