SQL Compare Pro and SQL Data Compare Pro 12.0

Released: Sep 19, 2016

Updates in 12.0

Features

Updates in SQL Compare 12.0

  • New User Interface (UI) - Overhauled UI of SQL Compare aligns with Redgate's new common design guidelines. Improves the underlying codebase and fixes over 200 UI related bugs.
  • Parallel registration - When registering from a live database, scripts folder, or a snapshot, SQL Compare will now register both data sources at the same time, rather than waiting for your source to finish before starting on the target. This should speed up the comparison considerably.
  • Login based licensing - SQL Compare now asks you to sign in when you launch the program. The new user account licensing makes it much easier for you to keep track of the tools you own and to move them between different machines.
  • SQL Server 2016 Support - SQL Compare 12 includes support for the following SQL Server 2016 features:
    • JSON syntax.
    • Columnstore indexes on memory optimized tables.
    • Dynamic Data Masking.
    • Row Level Security.
    • Stretch Tables.
  • Removed features in SQL Compare 12:
    • SQL Server 2000 support.
    • The fast deploy project option.
    • Print preview of the comparison results (“Tools -> Generate comparison results report” should now be used instead).
