Build Data Grid Apps on a More Robust Codebase

July 3, 2026
Handsontable's core has been completely rewritten in TypeScript, improving long-term stability and maintainability across the codebase.

Handsontable is a JavaScript library designed to help developers build interactive data grids into their web applications. Offering a familiar spreadsheet-like interface, it allows users to edit, sort, and filter data with ease. Highly customizable and compatible with popular frameworks like React and Angular, Handsontable empowers developers to build robust data manipulation features into their web applications.

The Handsontable 18.0.0 release introduces a complete rewrite of its core from JavaScript to TypeScript. Although largely invisible in day-to-day use, this investment strengthens the foundation of the project, making the codebase easier to maintain, reducing the likelihood of defects, and providing developers with improved type safety and tooling. It lays the groundwork for future enhancements while helping ensure a more reliable experience for everyone building with Handsontable.

To see a full list of what's new in version 18.0.0, see our release notes.

Handsontable is licensed per developer and is available as an Annual or Perpetual license with 1 year support and maintenance. See our Handsontable licensing page for full details.

Build a Balance Sheet in an Angular Report Designer

July 2, 2026
Use ActiveReportsJS to build, customize, and display reports entirely in the browser.

ActiveReportsJS is a powerful, lightweight reporting tool designed to integrate advanced reporting capabilities into any JavaScript application. ActiveReportsJS enables developers to create, view, export, and print richly formatted reports entirely on the client side - with zero server dependencies.

Balance sheets provide a snapshot of an organization's financial position at a specific point in time. By summarizing assets, liabilities, and equity, these reports help creditors, investors, and stakeholders evaluate a company's financial health. In this blog post, MESCIUS Product Manager Joel Parks demonstrates how to use the Angular Report Designer to give users the ability to design, view, and interact with reports directly from within your web application. Steps include:

  • Adding the Angular Report Designer to an Application
  • Saving the Report Details
  • Adding a Data Source and Data Set to the Report
  • Designing the Balance Sheet and Binding Data to Controls

Read the complete blog to get started creating polished, interactive balance sheets within your web applications.

ActiveReportsJS is licensed on an annual subscription or perpetual basis and is available as a Single Deployment License for non-commercial use, and as a Single Domain License or Unlimited Domain License for commercial and/or SaaS use. See our ActiveReportsJS licensing page for full details.

Improve User Interaction with Button Controls

July 2, 2026
Add configurable jQuery button editors to your user interface to provide reusable controls for executing application commands and custom logic.

Button editors are user interface (UI) components that enable users to initiate actions within an application, such as submitting data, opening dialogs, clearing input, or executing custom commands. Modern button components often provide options for customizing appearance, icons, size, placement, and behavior, helping developers create consistent, accessible interfaces while supporting application-specific workflows and improving the overall user experience.

Several jQuery data editor collections provide you with button editor controls, including:

  • DevExtreme jQuery Data Editors (part of DevExtreme Complete by DevExpress) support built-in and custom buttons within editor controls, allowing developers to add actions or implement commands with configurable icons, positioning, styling, and event handling.
  • Kendo UI jQuery Data Editors (part of Kendo UI by Telerik) provide configurable button components that support built-in and custom actions with configurable appearance, icons, sizing, accessibility features, and event handling.
  • jQWidgets provides configurable button components that can be integrated with its input and editor widgets to trigger common actions or custom application logic, with options to customize styling, dimensions, icons, themes, and event handling.

Build Rich Text Editing into Vue.js Apps

June 30, 2026
Add a visual editing experience to web applications with formatted content, Vue.js integration, and flexible customization options.

An RTF (Rich Text Format) Editor is a user interface component for Vue.js applications that provides a visual, word processor-style editing experience, allowing users to create and edit formatted content such as bold and italic text, headings, lists, tables, links, images, and other rich content without writing HTML directly. It typically outputs HTML or another structured format for storage and display, while integrating with Vue.js data binding and application state. For software developers, an RTF editor component reduces the effort required to implement advanced text editing features, offers a consistent editing experience across applications, supports extensibility through plugins and customization, and helps accelerate development of content management systems, documentation platforms, messaging applications, and other software that requires user-generated formatted content.

Several Vue.js data editor collections include rich text editing, including:

  • DevExtreme Vue Data Editors (part of DevExtreme by DevExpress) lets you integrate a feature-rich RTF Editor which supports formatted content creation and customization.
  • Kendo UI Vue Data Editors (part of Kendo UI by Telerik) allows you to add a Vue.js RTF Editor with extensive formatting tools, configurable features and responsive design.
  • jQWidgets facilitates rich text editing in Vue.js applications through an RTF Editor component offering formatting capabilities and several customization options.
  • SmartClient by Isomorphic Software lets you implement a Vue.js RTF Editor component featuring advanced document editing, and enterprise-ready functionality.
