Find differences between SQL Server databases.
AlfaAlfa SQL Server Comparison Tool (SCT) is a powerful application for finding differences between databases. Easily analyze, compare, and document the structure of tables, procedures, functions, views, triggers, and relationships. Quickly compare data stored in tables and generate detailed reports displaying results of comparisons or analysis. You can even automate comparisons by running SCT from the command line.
Did you ever forget to copy changes from the test database to production?
With AlfaAlfa SQL Server Comparison Tool (SCT for short) you can be confident that will not happen. The program allows for recording comparison sessions so that it's possible to replay them later without the need to specify all previously selected options.
Saved comparisons can be re-run from the script, scheduler, or any other utility that can launch SCT with the command line, allowing detection of the differences to be automated.
Comparison reports can be exported to HTML file or to Excel - CSV file.
Comparisons can be done on single or multiple pairs of objects, or - in Bulk Mode - on all objects.
Additionally, SCT can run in Simple mode which lists the objects that differ, or in Details mode that lists all the differences.
The process can be fine-tuned by specifying various parameters, such as ignoring the order of columns, whitespace characters, system objects, comments, case sensitivity, etc.
With SQL Server Comparison Tool you can:
Compare Structure
SQL Server Comparison Tool offers wide range of options when comparing the structure of database objects (Tables, Procedures, Functions, Views, Triggers and Relationships).
Compare structures in two currently selected objects, in all objects of selected databases, or in a selected subset of objects. Bulk and selective comparisons can be performed in Simple mode, which results in the list of objects which differ, or in Details mode, which additionally lists all the differences.
When comparing the structure of tables, it is possible to specify which columns should be ignored during comparison, you can also compare only selected parts of object (table, procedure, etc) definitions.
Use SCT's Structure comparison to:
Compare Data
Compare data in two currently selected tables, in all tables in selected databases, or in a selected subset of tables. Bulk and selective comparisons can be performed in Simple mode, which results in the list of tables which differ, or in Details mode, which additionally lists all the differences.
Use SCT's Data comparison to:
Automate Comparisons
SQL Server Comparison Tool offers the possibility of saving ("recording") comparison sessions so that they can be re-played later with one click without the need to re-enter all the parameters.
You can also run saved comparison processes from a command line parameter.
Generate Documentation
Use SCT to automatically generate reports for each comparison. Display a report window at the end of each comparison, be it a structure or data comparison, single, simple, or detailed comparison.
Export the report to an HTML or Microsoft Excel (CSV) file. Optionally, when running the comparison from the command line, SCT can automatically save the report in a pre-defined location.
SCT can also generate the report with basic statistics for each database - the number and names of objects (tables, stored procedures, etc.), plus - the number of records in each table.
