A deployment license is required to deploy your SpreadJS application.

  • Every SpreadJS developer license comes with one developer license and one annual production hostname deployment license.

The license terms of this product require that we verify your eligibility prior to it being delivered.

After verification, you will receive an email with your License Keys and instructions on how to download your software. Orders are usually processed on the same business day within a few hours.

Previous Versions

If you require an earlier version of SpreadJS, you can purchase a license for a the current version, and MESCIUS (formerly GrapeCity) will be glad to provide you with the version of the product that you need. Request a previous version.

SpreadJS is Licensed Per Developer and Deployment Hostname

  • At least one developer license and one deployment license is required to develop with and then deploy SpreadJS in your application(s).

Developer License

  • A Developer license is required for each separate developer developing with SpreadJS. The perpetual developer license includes:
  • One Year Maintenance which grants you access to all product updates and support
  • Develop on localhost dev machine, for example http://localhost
  • SpreadJS Designer App license to use the local run-time designer
  • One (1) Non-Production deployment license for testing/staging/QA environments with 90-day expiration

Deployment Hostname License

  • Each production server hostname(s) and/or named mobile/desktop application(s) where SpreadJS will be deployed to, is licensed separately. Annual subscription fees for Deployment licenses are required to be paid each year to continue to deploy SpreadJS in your application(s). The pricing is determined on whether your application(s) is for Internal/Non-commercial or Commercial use and Hostnames (examples of hostnames can be found at the bottom of this page).
  • Internal and Non-commercial use is defined as an application(s) that will be used for internal or external use where the end-user will not be charged to access the service(s).
  • Commercial and/or SaaS use is defined as an application(s) that will be used where the end-user or company(s) will be charged to access the service(s).

SpreadJS Optional Deployment Add-ons

  • Designer Ribbon Component - The SpreadJS Designer Ribbon Component (formerly Designer Component add-on) gives developers the ability to embed this same ribbon bar and UI functionality into their own spreadsheet web applications.
  • PivotTable - The Pivot Table gives developers the ability to embed full pivot table functionality into their own spreadsheet web applications.
  • Gantt Chart Sheet - The GanttSheet gives developers the ability to embed Gantt chart functionality into their own spreadsheet web applications.
  • ReportSheet - The ReportSheet gives developers the ability to allow their end users to design and create reports in their own spreadsheet web applications.

Examples of Hostnames

  • A Five (5) Hostname Deployment License would properly license these five different hostname deployment scenarios: www.domain.com, www.domain.jp, domain.com, sub1.domain.com, sub2.domain.com.
  • A Single Domain License (*.domain) would license unlimited hostnames on a single top-level domain: www.domain.com, sub1.domain.com, sub2.domain.com, sub3.domain.com, etc. such as common in SaaS applications.
  • A Named Mobile/Desktop Application license would license a single application for distributed applications where the run-time hostname may be 'localhost', such as Electron or Ionic applications, or there is no defined hostname.
  • An Unlimited Domain License (*.* wildcard) would license unlimited Domains, Applications, and Hostnames including multiple SaaS scenarios.

  • You must own at least one Developer License to purchase source code.

FAQs

Is the license permanent (perpetual) or temporal (time-limited)?

SpreadJS Developer Licenses are perpetual and include 1 Year Maintenance. You may continue to use the purchased developer product after your maintenance period ends. The Deployment license is typically Annual and must be renewed each year to continue to deploy SpreadJS on a production server.

What happens after my maintenance period expires?

You may continue to use SpreadJS after your maintenance period ends, however you will not have access to new releases and telephone support unless you purchase a Maintenance Renewal

Can I co-term (align) my existing licenses?

Yes - ComponentSource can arrange to co-term your licenses, even if they were not originally purchased through us. Please call us or to discuss your needs.

Can I upgrade?

Upgrades are available from the previous version of SpreadJS to the current version.

Can I buy an old product version?

MESCIUS (formerly GrapeCity) does not offer previous versions for sale directly, but if you purchase a new license for SpreadJS, MESCIUS (formerly GrapeCity) will provide you with the version of the product that you need. Please contact us to request an older version.

Do I need to buy a license for my build machine?

Yes. You need a separate license for your build machines.

Do I need to purchase licenses for my customers?

Yes. A distribution license is required to deploy your SpreadJS application.

Is Source Code available?

Yes - Source Code is available for SpreadJS. Please contact us for a quote.

What type of support do I get?

All licensed users have access to the Spread Forums, which have an active customer base and input from the technical support team.
